Borland International (Inprise)

Scotts Valley, CA

1994 Dupont ANTRON Design Award, Public Spaces, Honorable Mention

Borland International's (now Inprise) goal was to provide a leading edge, comfortable campus to attract and retain high caliber employees.  As an aid to Borland's refinement of design intentions for their campus, DES explored different master planning concepts in response to basic programmatic requirements.

Borland's headquarters included a multi-building campus with an identifiable center, as well as a varied and active relationship to the landscape. The first phase of the campus involved building 484,620 sf of space with a combination of surface under building parking. The project featured offices, research and development facilities, a computer center, a conference center, an employee cafeteria, a fitness center and exterior recreation areas.
