Gilead Sciences is a large, fast-growing biopharmaceutical company in Foster City. As the campus architect, DES services included rebranding, due diligence, programming, master planning, and office planning, specifically for the marketing, regulatory and clinical groups.

For Building 300, Gilead needed to house their growing Regulatory and Clinical Departments in a new part of their campus, complete with the ability to host large scientific meetings and food service from a new cafeteria. With XL Construction, the design build team created an aesthetically pleasing environment that reflects the company's vision of using natural elements to create therapeutics. Sky lights, natural fabric patterns and strategically placed nature photo images enhance the space throughout.

Sustainable solutions were incorporated into this fast track project. The reuse of existing construction supplies that were abandoned by the previous tenant included 50% of the carpet, 80% of the light fixtures, HVAC equipment and plumbing fixtures. The environment reflects Gilead's disciplined approach to science and visionary thinking.
