Menlo Park, CA
PacBio’s new HQ was adaptively repurposed from decades-old distribution center into a state-of-the-art life science facility. Located in the heart of Menlo Business Park, the renovated building maintains the essence of the original high-bay warehouse structure while select changes make it a modernized workplace for 21st century science and an inspiration to the ongoing modernization of the sixteen building campus. To create a stronger presence on O’Brien Drive, the building’s south elevation and entry experience was reimagined as beacon for the science company. The new entry’s perforated canopy, clear glazing, and expressed structure welcome users with openness and transparency.
