1440 O’Brien

Menlo Park, CA

Leveraging an existing R&D building located in the heart of the campus, 1440 O’Brien was transformed from a nondescript tilt-up structure into a lively campus center. The major renovation provides centralized amenities by dividing the long building in two, adding a new pool, and creating a suite of new amenities. Highlighting the new fitness center and eatery, a dramatic new entrance creates a strong presence for the building and draws in visitors. Its sinuous, perforated screen adds a playfulness to the rectilinear structure while signifying its special function. Completely reimagined and creatively split in two, 1440 O’Brien is now a focal point and beacon of activity at Menlo Park Labs.
