2325 Orchard Parkway

San Jose, California

A manufacturing building re-imagined to become a fully integrated office environment. DES used creative strategies to transform the 150,000-sf floor plates into comfortable and flexible spaces. Four 800-sf light wells were located in the central part of the building to bring daylight into a once dark core and create interior patios on the first floor. Common spaces were upgraded with new finishes, materials, lighting, and restrooms. Because of the building’s large scale, a new secondary lobby was created to allow for a multi-tenant occupancy. The former loading dock was transformed into an indoor/outdoor employee amenities space, which included wired benches that enable employees to be productive outdoors.
